Falling Fathoms

The OG Metal Prophet As a former Ohio resident, I’ve been to Lake Erie a few times. It’s a mammoth lake that resembles an ocean but has its own unique serenity. Slow Wake is the musical psychedelic equivalent. This band is a hidden gem! Favorite track: Black Stars.
Colin M.

Colin M. An entrancing post/doom/psych/stoner hydra that is dark, varied, and deep. A unique blend that really hits. Favorite track: Relief.

Scott Spiers This is high-caliber Stoner/Psych that's probably doing to stick with me for years. Lake Erie may be a joke to most of the country, but there's something magical about that lake that Slow Wake has captured perfectly. I think if you close your eyes, Falling Fathom will evoke your favorite body of water as well, with a dazzling display of song-craft and Heavy Psych perfection that hits like a hybrid of Elder and Somali Yacht Club. -cleanandsoberstoner.com Favorite track: Black Stars.

In Waves 11:19
Slow, I wake from dream In Waves it comes, endlessly I see a distant shore An ebbing tide, a silver door Close my eyes, let my thoughts go with the turning tide Empty mind of what's been left behind, till it's gone Leave this pain, as I float free Distantly see you recede from me, till your gone In Waves it comes in waves Leave my bones for the gods to see Let them speak of immortality, when I'm gone Slumber deep, 'neath an emerald tide Silver door once barred is open wide, and I wake In waves it comes in waves

Oh, to rest my eyes! To drift upon an ebbing tide Such dreams as have never flown upon high but horizon-ward, like crows, black tempests fly The gloom of darkening skies, tossed by waves, sparrows cry Fathoms falling Words caught in my throat, frozen, die. Try to wake, light denied Night is calling These dreams have a weight, undenied. Sinking fast, like my hands are tied Dark undertow Icy vortex is calling below. Liminal, I don't want to go Murky depths, sink slow The sky is breaking above The storms crash in my blood As the wind and the storms start to clear I crystallize around my fear I'm still falling Darkness falls over cold staring eyes, fingers clenched and paralyzed Death is calling
3.
The silence hangs, like smoke in the air - Isolation Through the window, a ghost, I stare - Transfiguration A path was chosen, but it's no longer there - Disolution A knot of anger, of fire and air - Self-Immolation It's hard to sleep while this fire burns it's hard to breathe this thick air (With) No one to quench me, the cinders churn alone with smoldering glare Burn In ash awaken to familiar despair Blistered and hollow Somnambulation, just sit there and stare In molten sorrow Oh this tainted light Burns Now exothermic, a pyre become Oh to this rage succumb Perpetual ignition inside A furnace opened wide Burn, burn, alight through the night Hold all of your anger tight Nothing is left, so don't lose sight of your fire Burn, burn scorching everything near Enflame the atmosphere Release control and touch the sun With your fire
4.
Relief 07:12
Oh these drifting thoughts and memories Cast not in to the sea, but graven, incised for all to see Carve my sins into the stone Scar the lithic soul, that ever they shall be borne By mountains in the sun, and chasms of the night Spare me The seismic weight of suffering, of envy and despair To lift this weight from blackened soul, I carve and rip and tear For relief I sculpt a fortress, a refuge carved of the earth In relief you'll find me chiseled, a monolith of rebirth I see myself carved in stone I realize I'm alone I see myself carved in stone I realize I'm alone
5.
Black Stars 12:32
Black Stars burn cold in the sky While twin suns set behind empty eyes A rumor drifting on brittle wings A haunting melody on shivering strings How long until the golden robed king arrives? Endless echoes in my mind Have you seen the sign? Black stars shine on skin like stone Dread winds moan Cassilda's poem 'Strange is the night where black stars rise, And strange moons circle through the tattered skies' Pallid the mask of they who sit on the throne Endless echoes in my mind Have you seen the sign? See this blood upon my hands His story sketched in crimson A manuscript that never ends It's rhyme and meter a prison My bruised feet drag cross the stone Curtain rise in Carcosa And as the final act begins I fall to slumber as black stars roll above black stars roll above
